Tom Hagy builds litigation intelligence and reputations. 

For more than four decades, Tom has shaped how litigators learn, track, and anticipate major developments across mass torts, insurance, product liability, environmental law, data privacy, and emerging litigation risks. He began his career at Mealey’s Litigation Reports, rising from editor to publisher, where he oversaw the launch and production of more than two dozen targeted litigation news services, including industry-defining coverage of asbestos, insurance, product liability, and—well ahead of its time—a first-of-its-kind cybertech litigation service in the 1990s. 

Following Mealey’s acquisition, Tom became a vice president at LexisNexis, where he helped create and scale new legal news, database, and education products, translating complex litigation into actionable intelligence for lawyers nationwide. 

Tom also led the development of Mealey’s national conference portfolio, including the National Asbestos Litigation Conference, long regarded as the most influential event in its field. After founding HB Litigation in 2008, he continued to build industry-defining platforms, including helping to quadruple the size of the NetDiligence Cyber Risk and Privacy Liability Forum, now one of the leading conferences in its sector. 

Across his career, Tom has written or edited thousands of articles, produced hundreds of webinars and CLE programs, and overseen conferences, databases, podcasts, and legal education initiatives relied upon by litigators and litigation businesses nationwide. He is the founder of Critical Legal Content, a boutique content studio that advises litigation-focused law firms and legal services companies on content strategy, thought leadership, and market positioning. 

Tom is also the host of the Emerging Litigation Podcast, now approaching its 120th episode with more than 15,000 downloads, along with thousands of additional views on the HB Litigation News YouTube channel. He edits a litigation blog that ranked as the most-read in its category on JD Supra in 2025 and regularly writes about emerging legal issues for the HB website. 

With a strong reputation for crafting articles and multimedia content assets, publishers and companies turned to Tom when they wanted content for law enforcement professionals, estate planning professionals, and consumers, law firm clients, in-house counsel, and even customer experience professionals in the U.S. and Europe.  

He holds a B.A. in Communications from Bethany College and remains relentlessly focused on one mission: helping litigators understand what’s coming next—and own the conversation when it arrives.
